NCHRP Research Report 1087: Guide for Intersection Control Evaluation Overview
NCHRP 1087 aims to bring consistency to ICE processes and chart a clear path for states that have not yet developed an ICE process. It also, because it includes a good deal of new research and methods, is a valuable resource for states that already have ICE processes, as well as local agencies that are also called upon to evaluate intersections holistically and equitably. Bastian Schroeder of Kittelson and Associates, who led the development of NCHRP 1087, will provide an overview of the guide to help practitioners make decisions regarding intersection type and control, while implementing safer and more cost-effective solutions.
City of Bend Roundabout Design Manual Update
The City of Bend has been a leader for roundabouts in Oregon for decades, with a "roundabout-first" policy incorporated into their Transportation System Plan. Bend has a roundabout design manual that was recently updated to incorporate the latest research in NCHRP Report 1043: Guide for Roundabouts and refresh their roundabout analysis policies. Kayla Fleskes-Lane and Randy Johnson of DKS Associates will highlight some of the key changes made, including an update to the Intersection Control Evaluation (ICE) process, guidance for mini roundabout siting and analysis, how to incorporate key walking and biking routes into the decision making process and when to consider a protected roundabout.
Come enjoy lunch with us or join remotely as a webinar and learn more about the NCHRP 1087 Guide for Intersection Control Evaluation and the City of Bend's latest guidance on design and analysis for roundabouts
